1 Kings 8:35-40

Our devotions this Lenten season have been written by members of Faith Lutheran Church.  Today’s devotion is by Daniel Grimmer.  Also, if you would like to join our staff in praying the liturgy for Responsive Prayer/Suffrages just click here.

When heaven is shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against you, and then they pray toward this place, confess your name, and turn from their sin, because you punish them, then hear in heaven, and forgive the sin of your servants, your people Israel, when you teach them the good way in which they should walk; and grant rain on your land, which you have given to your people as an inheritance. If there is famine in the land, if there is plague, blight, mildew, locust, or caterpillar; if their enemy besieges them in any of their cities; whatever plague, whatever sickness there is; whatever prayer, whatever plea there is from any individual or from all your people Israel, all knowing the afflictions of their own hearts so that they stretch out their hands toward this house; then hear in heaven your dwelling place, forgive, act, and render to all whose hearts you know—according to all their ways, for only you know what is in every human heart— so that they may fear you all the days that they live in the land that you gave to our ancestors. 1 Kings 8:35-40

I have come back around from making mistakes in my life. God has put people in my life that have helped me grow. My principles used to be about what can I get out of people or what do I have to lie about next? Those principles have become more about what can I do for the next suffering person? For the broken imperfect person sitting next to me? My life today revolves around honesty, love, and bringing my spirit into my reality.

One thing that God has given me is my own destruction.  God has never had to punish me more than I already have done or will do in my life, and I think that others who have been destructive in their lives can relate. God can be there for me when I turn toward him, and ask for his love and his guidance as I go through my life. I ask what would be the next thing that I should do for him, so that I may better understand and practice his will.

Let us pray:  Thy will, not mine, be done; however I can best serve thee. Amen.

Well i can understand that, pets are uslulay very devoted to their masters, and love them very much , just as we are with God, they love us because we take care of their every need, and show them lots of love , again, just as God does with us, this kind of concept would really be useful in helping children understand our relationship with our master and how he takes care of us, thank you

I had a rather hard time chonsiog just one type of physician I would want to work for. So many of them fascinate me, and with me not really going into any medical field other than support, I never gave this any thought in the past. After reading the list, I am more favorable of working for a neonatologist. It is difficult to think about how neonatologist physicians sometimes have the most difficult job in the world, but I can only imagine how amazing it would be to be a part of saving a baby’s life. I had a coworker once whose baby was born at 36 weeks, and her baby had a lot of heart and lung problems. There were concerns about whether or not they would ever fully develop once she had him, but after many months in the NICU, and many scares that happened during it, the doctors were able to save him and he is now a very healthy 5 year old. It is because of that I have a higher interest in the neonatologist field.I hate to say which type of physician I would care less to work for, and it is because I worry that many will take it the wrong way. When I was 16, I used to help my mom at an assisted living home as a caregiver. We would get to work at 7:00 A.M. every morning to prepare breakfast for four of the elderly men and women that we were caring for. We would then make sure that all bedding was changed, rooms were cleaned, meals were prepared, and appointments were handled. We worked 12 hour days, and they were always grueling. The owner of the home made sure that everyone had their medicine and made it to their doctor appointments on time. However, she was more worried about getting paid for her services than actually helping the elderly. She would yell at them if they did something wrong, and even call them terrible names. My mom reported her and we both quit our job, but it has always left a sting in my heart since then. It is because of my experience with that situation that I do not think I could ever work for a gerontologist. I know that the situations would be much different, but ever since my experience with caring for elderly individuals it is very hard for me to think about assisting a physician in geriatrics because I worry that someone else might treat the elderly in the same way the owner of the home did. I am a firm believer that the elderly deserve the ultimate care and comfort when going through any treatment and aging in general, but I do not think I could ever work in that environment again.

When I originally commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added” checkbox and now each time a comment is added I
get several e-mails with the same comment. Is
there any way you can remove people from that service?
    Many thanks!

Hmm it seems like your site ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess
I’ll just sum it up what I had written and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your
blog. I as well am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m still new to everything. Do you have any recommendations for beginner blog writers? I’d really appreciate
    it.
